The second tutorial I signed up for is Ajax on Rails, being taught by David Heinemeier Hansson. I've seen talks on the topic by Dave Thomas, who has co-written two books, one on Ruby, one on Ruby on Rails. Dave's an entertaining speaker, who's nonetheless informative.
David wants to create Ajax Shop. Using sqllite2? Using TextMate to edit Ruby.
Rails generates a bunch of Javascript files for you. Starts up a server that Rails comes set up with.
Starts with a generator to generate a controller. Allows you to shop. Starts writing code with rails in Ruby.
I realize it's a bit difficult to write anything coherent, if your intention is to listen to the talk. My brain was so fried after the day, that thoughts of sleep continuously rammed into my head, until I was able to, shortly after 5, head back to the hotel, and enjoy an hour of repose.
